The Case Of The Mysteriously Vanishing Comments

Lately I’ve spent a fair bit of time sitting around – as usual – trying to avoid writing, or at least to put it off as long as possible (while still somehow managing to crank out 15,000 words on Israel and the Middle East), and one of my writing avoidance techniques has been to tell myself: oh, what’s the point; nobody reads this stuff anyway.

My evidence for this was that it’s been months since anyone posted a comment on any of my articles.  Even the viagra spammers seemed to have given up on me.  True, I hadn’t been very consistent about posting new items, but even still, it seemed like there should be at least somebody out there who felt the need to tell me I was an idiot.

Well, today I started looking into this conundrum, and discovered that not only were there no new comments, but that every single comment that had ever been posted on this site had disappeared.  So too had the statistics that used to tell me how many (if any) people were reading this thing.  At this point, for all I know, larrylivermore.com might not be showing up on anybody’s computer except my own!

Luckily, Joshua, our resident genius, has agreed to launch an investigation, and maybe in a day or so you’ll once again be able to freely hurl brickbats and bouquets in my direction.  Or, alternatively, the praise and contumely that you’ve already posted here these past few months will suddenly become visible!

Of course, it also occurs to me that perhaps everyone can see the comments except me, in which case I’d look a right prat, wouldn’t I?  Well, nothing new there, I suppose.  Anyway, stay tuned for further developments.  And yes, to those of you who keep asking: yes, now that I’ve finally finished my Middle East travel journal, I can and will turn my attention back to finishing the next installment of Spy Rock Memories.  Also, it’s still very tentative, but we’re looking at the prospect of a Potatomen show on the West Coast in January or February, most likely/hopefully in Berkeley.

Potatomen show in January or February… isn’t your little “project” due to be finished then? Does it have anything to do with that?!

And say that I thought you had suppressed all the comments because you didn’t care about us anymore !
I’m so happy that we’re getting new articles again !
